RawTown Coffee, the concept, was ushered into existence by four friends that desired to enhance their local community with a service that was otherwise missing; an attempt to fill a void if you will. Even from the beginning our mission was not just to serve coffee but to serve the soul, for it was our desire to be more than a coffee shop, our vision was to have a place to serve you, the customer, with a comfortable place to relax your mind and stretch your intellect as well as enjoy a great cup of coffee, smoothie, or pastry.
RawTown Coffee, the model, is patterned after the "Penny University" coffee houses of Colonial America. In the colonial days coffee houses were venues for discussion. Politics, Religion, News and Issues of the Day are welcome here as they were then. Should you feel the need to think, please do so as we believe that the stimulation of the mind brings about the settling of the spirit which results in the relaxing of the soul. We all have our beliefs and it is only through dialog that those beliefs can be understood. This coffee house wants to provide a place for you to exercise your mind. This is where the term "a penny for your thoughts" originated, in the "penny university" coffee houses of Colonial America; unfortunately a cup of coffee is no longer only a penny but good conversation is always free.
RawTown Coffee, the reality, is set in beautiful and historic downtown Cheraw. Enjoying our wireless atmosphere, sidewalk seating, or our comfortable aura all comes free to our patrons.
